What the numbers mean for a pour
Pours needed with a limit of 1/8 in per pour, the strictest of the limits the documents give. Worked out with the layer planner.
| Total thickness | Pours | Earliest start of last pour | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 in (25 mm) | 8 | 28 h after the first, if the conditions below are met | – |
| 2 in (51 mm) | 16 | 60 h after the first, if the conditions below are met | – |
| 3 in (76 mm) | 24 | 3.8 days after the first, if the conditions below are met | – |
| 4 in (102 mm) | 32 | 5.2 days after the first, if the conditions below are met | – |
Only if these published conditions are met: no prep or sanding needed; if the previous layer fully dries, scuff sand with 220-320 grit
What the manufacturer says
Paraphrased from the manufacturer’s documents.
Other notes
- The TDS gives per-part liquid densities of 9.7 lbs/gal (resin) and 8.3 lbs/gal (hardener) at 25°C.TDS
- The TDS lists a gel time of 40 minutes for a 150 g mass at 25°C.TDS
- Cured density is published as 1.11 g/cm³ (cured solid, not mixed liquid).TDS
- Instructions say the coat is sandable after 8 hours (1/8 in at 77°F); the product page says 24 hours at 75°F.Instr.
Temperature
- Above 80°F Table Top may set too fast and overheat, which can cause yellowing, distortion or cracking.Instr.
Layering
- Thicker finishes are built by step-pouring, and each layer must cool to room temperature (70-80°F) before the next.Instr.
Surface preparation
- Always apply a seal coat before flood coating; let it cure rock-hard and sand it with 80-120 grit.Instr.
Coverage
- A 1-gallon kit should cover about 12 sq ft as a 1/8 in flood coat.Instr.
UV and color
- The TDS does not recommend Table Top Pro for continuous outdoor UV exposure.TDS
- The Instructions for Use state the product is not UV stable and recommend a UV varnish final coat outdoors.Instr.
Heat
- The TDS lists heat deflection temperatures of 118°F (room-temperature cure) and 124°F (post cure).TDS
