What the manufacturer says

Paraphrased from the manufacturer’s documents.

Intended use

  • FGCI positions this 1:1 system as a clear coating for table tops, bars, wood finishes, see-through encapsulations and artwork.TDS

UV and color

  • It is formulated to resist UV yellowing, but FGCI still does not recommend it for permanent outdoor use.TDS

Heat

  • The set can be sped up with mild heat up to 160°F.TDS
  • The TDS gives a 100 g gel time of 35 minutes (±5 min).TDS

Other notes

  • Part A weighs 9.65 lb per gallon with a viscosity of 12,000 (±2,000) on spindle #4 at 6 RPM, per the TDS table.TDS
  • Part B weighs 8.0 lb per gallon with a viscosity of 900 (±100) per the TDS table.TDS
  • The SDS lists resin density as 9.68 lb/gal and activator density as 8 lb/gal.SDS
  • The product page says the cured coating is food-safe for indirect contact once fully cured at 30 days.Page
  • Shelf life is 6-12 months unopened and 3-6 months once opened, depending on storage.Instr.

Layering

  • A layer that has already hardened needs light 240-grit sanding and a 90%+ isopropyl alcohol wipe before the next layer.Instr.

Temperature

  • Best results come at 70-74°F; FGCI warns against pouring outdoors, especially above 84°F.Instr.

Surface preparation

  • FGCI recommends a very thin seal coat, which this product can provide by brushing it on.Instr.

Safety data sheet summary

Signal word: DangerSDS

Part A hazard statements

  • H319 Causes serious eye irritation
  • H315 Causes skin irritation
  • H317 May cause an allergic skin reaction
  • H302 Harmful if swallowed
  • H335 May cause respiratory irritation
  • H411 Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects

Part B hazard statements

  • H302 Harmful if swallowed
  • H314 Causes severe skin burns and eye damage
  • H373 May cause damage to organs (Central Nervous System)
  • H341 Suspected of causing genetic damage and reproductive toxicity (as printed)
  • H361 Suspected of damaging fertility or the unborn child
  • H410 Very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects

Protective equipment

  • Wear chemical splash goggles and/or a face shield.
  • Wear impermeable gloves and clothing that limits skin exposure; discard contaminated gloves.
  • A NIOSH-approved vapor respirator may be needed if exposure limits are exceeded.

Ventilation

  • Install proper mechanical ventilation so exposure stays below permissible limits (resin SDS).
  • Ensure adequate natural or mechanical ventilation to remove activator vapors from the work area.

A summary, not the full SDS. Read the SDS for both parts before use and follow its first-aid section in case of exposure. This is not medical advice.

Where the manufacturer’s documents disagree

  • Working time: begins to thicken within 30 minutes (instructions) vs. working time is approximately 25 minutes (product page) (Instr., Page). The table shows the value from the Instr..
  • Tack-free: 1/4" casting tack free time 2.5 Hours (+/- 30 Minutes); thin film set time 2-8 hours (TDS) vs. Cures to touch in 18–24 hours (product page) (TDS, Page). The table shows the value from the TDS.
  • Full cure: Full Cure 24 Hours depending on thickness & ambient temperature (TDS) vs. full cure and maximum hardness can require up to 7 days (instructions step 5) vs. fully cured at 30 days (product page, food-safe statement) (TDS, Instr., Page). The table shows the value from the TDS.
  • Specific gravity or density, Part A: TDS weight per gallon Part A 9.65 Lbs. vs. SDS density 9.68 pounds/gallon; SG 1.17 (TDS, SDS). The table shows the value from the SDS.
